It was made clear that there would be future products created by PDQ and that the design system for the current products need to be scaleable in that regard. The nine square grid became the foundation of creating the product icons. It leaded itself well to the PDQ company logo because of the thick lines and allowed for curves or hard angles to be used when needed. Using the nine square gird allowed ample opportunity to explore different layouts that abstractedly represented the product they were pared with.
